Summer 2020 Update

Hello, lovely people!

There’s been silence for one important reason: I have been hard at work putting the finishing touches on my upcoming album (!!!). It has evolved so much from the original concept that I had, and yet the project has stayed true to the core intention—finding inner peace. I’m so, so excited to get it out into the world when it’s ready, likely closer to the end of the year.

There was also a lot going on this past June: protests across the world in response to the senseless murder of George Floyd, the COVID-19 pandemic raging on, some (but not all) country borders opening into this new normal…

I also took part in the first ever Juneteenth celebration here in Madrid, with ‘Prayer Song’ as my offering. Then I had a virtual concert with Living Room Concerts, which was really lovely and encouraging. The people who attended are the very first to hear the album in its entirety ;). And the rest of my time has really just been dedicated to finishing the album and figuring out the logistics of music sales, marketing etc. It is quite an arduous process (sigh).

In the mean time, I’m happy to announce that my song, ‘(I Am) Divine’, will be released next month in all the places you get your music!

I’ve already written about the background of that song here, when I did a completely acoustic lyric video of myself in a park in Jamaica last year. Nevertheless, what I will say is that…this song…is meditation. It is affirmation. It is a reminder. It is the anchor that tugs me back to center when my boat has drifted too far. It is…just so many things. And I’m really, really proud of the production.

So stay tuned! I’m alive, I’m well, I’m crafting these songs so that when they are released I’ll be able to say that I did all that I could. And hopefully I’ll finally be able to sleep.

Tell me what you think!
